Making the Most of Dry[ish] January
Our own Zach Bingham visited the ABC7 morning team to share his thoughts on making the most of Dry January, featuring many new no-/low-alcohol alternatives. Click on the image above to see the segment.
For over a decade, many have attempted to start the new year off on a drier note. Whether it be for dieting after the holidays, testing yourself to abstain or simply giving your liver a break, "Dry January" allows people to take a step back and observe their relationship with alcohol.
Many beverage brands are now offering non-alcoholic options. Zach Bingham, the director of Wine and Educational Development at Old Vines Supper Club, joined ABC7 to walk you through some non-alcoholic options that you probably haven't heard of.
The global market for "No/Low" (non-alcoholic and low-ABV beverages) has ballooned to over $20 billion as of 2023, with an expectation to continue sharp upward growth over the next decade. At Old Vines, Zach seeks to celebrate the diversity and growth of this business while also putting a heavy emphasis on treating non-alcoholic beverages with the same celebratory and invigorating approach that he brings to their wine-and-food pairings.
In addition to speaking on more traditional non-alcoholic offerings like non-alcoholic beer and de-alcoholized wine, Zach highlighted Proxies — a completely alcohol-free wine alternative which recreates the complexity and quality of a glass of wine — as well as the functional, adaptogenic elixirs from Fort Myers-based Gather Beverage Company, who crafts top-shelf alcohol alternatives from premium organic ingredients, for a delightful replacement in a cocktail moment.
