Woodford Reserve Bourbon + Cigar Dinner

Woodford Reserve, one of the most distinguished bourbon brands in the world, traces its roots back to 1812, making it one of the oldest distilleries in Kentucky. The distillery, located in Woodford County, operates on the site of the old Oscar Pepper Distillery, where legendary distiller James Crow developed key whiskey-making techniques in the mid-19th century. These techniques, including the sour mash fermentation process, continue to influence bourbon production today. Woodford Reserve was officially introduced as a brand in 1996 by the Brown-Forman Corporation, which meticulously restored the historic distillery to its former glory. This respect for tradition, coupled with a commitment to quality, has cemented Woodford Reserve's reputation in the world of bourbon.

What sets Woodford Reserve apart is its unique approach to crafting bourbon. The distillery employs a distinctive process involving copper pot stills, triple distillation, and aging in hand-crafted, charred white oak barrels. This meticulous production process allows Woodford Reserve to develop complex, rich flavors that are both smooth and balanced. Additionally, the distillery's commitment to using high-quality, locally sourced grains—corn, rye, and malted barley—further enhances the bourbon's distinctive character. Woodford Reserve is also known for its innovative use of different barrel finishes and its Master’s Collection, which explores various experimental techniques, further distinguishing it from other bourbons in the market.

Join us on Sept 19 for Chef Brooke’s culinary journey complementing the distinct character of Woodford Reserve Whiskey, starting on a bright, refreshing note with a Derby Smash cocktail. From there, enjoy a progression of courses, each perfectly paired with a carefully selected expression of Woodford Reserve. The pepper crusted tuna, with its deep, umami flavors, is matched with Woodford Reserve served neat, enhancing the bourbon's rich, caramel undertones. The pork belly, glazed with a coffee BBQ sauce, finds its perfect partner in the Woodford Reserve Double Oak Bourbon, whose layered complexity mirrors the dish's depth. The Duck Breast, accented by an orange miso glaze, is accompanied by a smoked boulevardier, a cocktail that brings out the whiskey’s smoky and bitter notes. Finally, the short rib ravioli is elevated by the Shrooms Day cocktail, a shiitake-infused Woodford Reserve rye creation, adding an earthy, truffle-infused richness that lingers beautifully on the palate.
