Tonight we enjoy four courses, perfectly paired with the legendary reds of Sonoma stalwart Rodney Strong Vineyards, established by noted American dancer Rodney Strong over 60 years ago as the 13th bonded winery in Sonoma. Strong was an early proponent of Chardonnay and had a hand in establishing both Chalk Hill and Russian River Valley AVAs. In 1974 he created Alexander’s Crown, the first single-vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon in Sonoma County.
Since then, Rodney Strong Vineyards has been in a constant state of evolution and has become a noted leader in conservation. Innovations like space-saving square stainless steel tanks have enabled Rodney Strong to reduce annual water use by 50%. In 2003, Rodney Strong installed what was then the largest solar array in any winery worldwide, and now produces more than 50% of the winery’s energy.
