Indulge in Bone-Dry Riesling, Cool Climate Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Cabernet Franc from Seneca Lake.
Forge Cellars, located in New York’s Finger Lakes region, was founded in 2011 as a collaboration between French vigneron Louis Barruol of Château de Saint Cosme in the Rhône Valley, and American partners Rick Rainey and Justin Boyette. The winery was established with a focus on crafting exceptional Rieslings and Pinot Noirs that reflect the unique terroir of the Finger Lakes, particularly the microclimates around Seneca Lake. The founders’ vision was to produce wines that merge Old World winemaking techniques with the distinctive qualities of the Finger Lakes, emphasizing minimal intervention and natural processes in the vineyard and cellar.
From its inception, Forge Cellars has garnered attention for its commitment to sustainable farming practices and a philosophy centered on expressing the purity of the fruit. The winery sources grapes from several vineyards along Seneca Lake, each chosen for its specific soil composition and microclimate. Over the years, Forge Cellars has grown in reputation, receiving accolades for its wines' complexity and depth, particularly its Rieslings, which have been lauded for their vibrant acidity and mineral-driven profiles. The winery's dedication to quality and innovation has made it a standout in the burgeoning New York wine scene, attracting both national and international recognition.
