Join us for an rare look behind one of the most exclusive and elegant estates in the Napa Valley — hosted by Director of Winemaking Shawn DeMartino.
Dick and Ann Grace established Grace Family Vineyards in April 1976, planting their St. Helena vineyard with Cabernet Sauvignon cuttings from the legendary Bosché Vineyard in Rutherford. They sold the property in 2019, and it continues as a family-owned winery today. Dick and Ann still live at the estate, surrounded by the team, and vines they established many years ago.
The first harvest at Grace was picked by family and friends in 1978 and taken to Caymus Winery in the back of a station wagon. When Charlie Wagner, the late Caymus patriarch, tasted those first grapes, he exclaimed, “You know, Dick, this is damned fine fruit!” And so one of the Napa Valley’s first vineyard designated wines was produced.
Cornelius Grove Vineyard became part of the Grace Family portfolio in 2016. Farmed by the Corbett Family for decades, the Grace Family team has spent almost ten years cultivating this diverse terroir to produce a single vineyard wine that expresses the essence of this unique property.
Shawn DeMartino has spent the past decade immersed in Napa Valley’s most iconic cellars, honing his craft alongside some of the region’s most respected winemakers. From his first harvest with Helen Keplinger in 2015 to formative roles at Realm Cellars, Screaming Eagle, Harlan Estate, Bond, and Promontory, Shawn has built a foundation rooted in both precision and innovation. Since 2021, he has led Grace Family Vineyards as Director, guiding the estate’s vineyards and winery with a vision that honors its legacy while embracing the future.
